Let’s Eat!

Conference Event Meals When you think of DKG conference event meals, you probably remember past events when you rushed to find your table in the large ballroom. Then, you often waited and waited for your food to be delivered to your table by the hotel staff. Or your food arrived quickly but you spent lots of time waiting for the remainder of the guests to finish their meal. DKG has tried various options for event meals. There have been plated meals delivered to each guest at the table. There have been buffet meals where members may have waited in long lines only to find empty serving dishes for their favorite choices. There have also been food stations in various locations in the ballroom with the hope that members did not have to wait an inordinate amount of time before eating. Each of these choices has both positive and negative results. One other piece of the meal dilemma is trying to keep the meal cost as reasonable as possible. Remember, the meal cost is not only for the foo

Community Outreach at the Detroit Conference

At the Detroit DKG International Conference in July, we will be accepting gift card donations for our community outreach project. Our goal is to raise money to help women and children. Our project will support local schools in need and shelters for women and children who need protection and assistance. Gift cards could be for Target, Walmart, Meijer stores, office supply stores, and such. Until Friday morning, you may drop the cards in the collection box near the registration tables. Then the box will be placed at the entrance to the Society Expo room. Donations will be accepted through Saturday at 3 pm. At the Saturday evening dinner we will announce the total collected. If you plan to attend the conference, please consider bringing a gift card (or two) with you. They are easy to pack. If your friends and chapter members are unable to attend, they could send along a card or cards with you. Cards may be donated by individuals, groups, chapters, or state organizations. Th

The DKG International Conference in Phoenix is less than five weeks away.  Have you started thinking about things to pack in your suitcase? Here are some items you don’t want to forget: ● BYOB - Bring Your Own Bag The 2023 DKG conferences are not providing tote bags, so be sure to pack one to carry your daily essentials. Squeeze an extra bag into your luggage to trade with an old friend or a new acquaintance. ● Lapel Pins It’s always fun to see the variety of DKG pins members often wear in addition to their membership pin. Lapel pins are a great discussion starter. As you talk about the various pins with another member, make this even more memorable by bringing a pin to trade or share.   ● Cash Members at the Phoenix Conference may choose to purchase the themed table decor, donate to the DKGIEF Emergency Fund, shop at the Society Expo, and more. Digital payment is not always available, so be sure to bring some extra cash for those opportunities. ● Sunscreen The She
