Community Outreach at the Detroit Conference

At the Detroit DKG International Conference in July, we will be accepting gift card donations for our community outreach project. Our goal is to raise money to help women and children. Our project will support local schools in need and shelters for women and children who need protection and assistance.

Gift cards could be for Target, Walmart, Meijer stores, office supply stores, and such. Until Friday morning, you may drop the cards in the collection box near the registration tables. Then the box will be placed at the entrance to the Society Expo room. Donations will be accepted through Saturday at 3 pm. At the Saturday evening dinner we will announce the total collected.

If you plan to attend the conference, please consider bringing a gift card (or two) with you. They are easy to pack. If your friends and chapter members are unable to attend, they could send along a card or cards with you. Cards may be donated by individuals, groups, chapters, or state organizations.

The number of schools and/or shelters supported will be determined by the amount of money we collect. We will select recipient organizations and schools that will benefit the most women and children. We will donate to at least one school in Detroit and one school in rural Michigan, as well as to women’s shelters in Wayne and Macomb Counties.

We ask you to help us assist individuals in need and make a brighter day for a child, a mother, a family, a teacher or a group of students. Thank you!
